Traineeships
Professional & Technical Development Ltd, in collaboration with Careers Wales, are pleased to be able to offer young people (aged 16-18) in Wales the opportunity to undertake fully funded training through the Welsh Government's Traineeship programme.
Our Traineeship programmes are designed to provide learners with the key personal and employability skills and qualifications they need to enable them to effectively enter the labour market and retain sustainable employment. There are no special entry requirements and throughout the learning programme, we'll be on hand with guidance and support to help you make the most of your learning experience.
The Traineeship programme has two main strands:
Engagement:
- This is a varied 4 week introductory programme, during which learners will get the chance to try out different work tasters and gain valuable core skills. On the engagement option of a traineeship, learners will be paid an allowance of £30 a week.
- This is for you if you are not sure what you want to do for a career or if you have certain barriers which prevent you from immediately taking part in employment or other learning. It will also prepare you for the world of work or full-time learning.
- Engagement might include work placements, community projects, or training at the premises of your place of learning to help get you ready. It can also help when you have been offered a job which is dependent on a work trial or pre-employment probationary period.
Level 1:
- This is a longer programme tailored to meet the needs of individuals, where learners will be able to work towards a Level 1 learning programme including an NVQ and Essential Skills Wales qualifications. On the level 1 traineeship, learners will be paid an allowance of £50 a week, reduced for part time allowance.
- If you know what career at this level you want to follow and are ready and able to undertake full-time learning then you can access this level directly. Level 1 could also include work placements, community projects and training with your provider while you do an NVQ or other qualifications in the work area you have chosen.
Where could a traineeship take me?
Completing a traineeship demonstrates to potential employers that you have commitment and gives you an opportunity to add useful qualifications to your CV. Upon successful completion of a traineeship programme, you could look at doing further education qualifications in a college or, if you're working as a result of your traineeship placement, you could carry on and do a Foundation Apprenticeship.
What subjects can I study during a traineeship?
Professional & Technical Development Ltd has available places on traineeship programmes in the following subject areas:

- Team Leading
